Born in 1990, Ralph Barrientos is a visual artist based in Manila, Philippines.
He works across a variety of media, exploring the spaces where image, sound, and technology meet. Using elements from popular media and contemporary internet culture as reference points, his works talk about the poetry and ennui in living in modern day planet earth. He uses activities such as ASMR, and makeup tutorials in his work as tools to explore ways in which the post-internet condition has influenced our generation’s coping mechanisms and how we use these new technologies to navigate our daily lives. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, majoring in Painting at the University of the Philippines in 2012 and has since exhibited his work in the Philippines and in India.
