Martin de Mesa (born 1987) is a Filipino interdisciplinary artist who has main practices in performance art and video, highlighting the elements of transvestism, camp, seduction, human connection, and ritual. His artistic practice also involves experimental collaboration with musician/ sound artist, figurative painting/drawing, collage, and mixed-media installation.
Over the last few years, he has presented his live performances and video works at various international platforms including: the Taiwan International Video Art Exhibition 2014, “The Return of Ghosts” (Taipei), Video Stage – Art Stage 2014 (Singapore), Skowhegan Artist Residency 2015 (Maine/ USA), P-Noise Arts Festival 2015 (Copenhagen / Denmark), and Tua-Tiu-Tiann Arts Festival 2017/ “Queen Me (Taipei/ Taiwan).
In 2019, he has done performative collaborations at international art events in Manila such as — Norldys x P-noise Festival, Igkas R2: monumentED Responding: Performance Art Festival and Meeting, and WSK X Festival of the Recently Possible. More so, he has participated for the first time at the recent Lost Frames’ video screening events.
