Danielle Madrid (b.1993) is a labor rights advocate and filmmaker. She is a graduate of Visual Communications in the College of Fine Arts, University of the Philippines Diliman and a member of Mayday Multimedia, a collective of artists that produces films and videos about the plight and for the benefit of workers. Madrid’s work focuses on moving images and traverses the lines of documentary, video art, and experimental films. Together with her craft, she travels to places to capture the life of a community. Her documentary film, ‘Pagkatapos ng Tigkiriwi’ tells the story of sugar farm workers in Negros province. It was awarded the Jury Prize in Pandayang Lino Broca, nominee for Best Documentary in Gawad Urian, and Best Documentary in the 30th Gawad Alternatibo of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.
